Privacy Policy

The Legal Playground’s Privacy Policy exists because the privacy rights of our members are important to us. The Legal Playground reserves the right to make changes to the Privacy Policy as the Site develops and we will keep you informed about such changes.

The Information We Collect and Why

The Legal Playground collects information that you choose to enter and information about your interactions on the Site. This information includes, but is not limited to, personal information such as your name, address, phone number and email, occupation, employment history and interests. It also includes information concerning the features you access, content that you may post, messages to other users or groups, and memberships in groups. Personal information, however, does not cover any publicly available information and/or public records about lawyers, including without limitation information obtained from bar associations, courts, law enforcement agencies, and websites that are available to the public.

Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when you visit the Legal Playground Site we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came and the site to which you are going when you leave. We also receive the Internet protocol (IP) address of your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, email patterns, as well as the name of your ISP.

Like most websites, the Legal Playground uses the information collected, cookies, web log files and other technologies for internal review to improve the content of our Site, conduct research and analysis to help improve your experience, to ensure the technical functionality of our network, and to create and develop new ideas and services for our members. The linkage between your IP address and your personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties without your permission or except when required by law.

Who Can Access Your Information

The Site is designed so that members can publish their resumes, communicate in forums, blog, have a legal mobile app that clients and prospective clients can download, and obtain high-tech marketing assistance for the purpose of developing, maintaining and enhancing a network of contacts and to generate new business. Thus, any personally identifiable information you choose to provide in public areas of the Site, such as your profiles,  blogs,  forums, or any other interactive areas, can be read, collected, or used by other users, members of the public and/or other third parties and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. The Legal Playground is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these public areas. If you have any hesitation about providing such information and/or having such information displayed on the Site or otherwise used in any manner permitted in this Privacy Policy, you should not become a member of the Legal Playground. You should also note that posting to such public areas of the Site constitutes your consent to share such information publicly.

In order to improve the Site, members of the Legal Playground team will have access to information that you enter. All Legal Playground team members are required to keep such information obtained in the execution of their work under strict confidence. This means that information about a Legal Playground member will not be communicated to another party in any form without the express consent of the member. In the course of building and improving the Site, it may be necessary for us to work with partners (e.g. designers, programmers, business consultants). In all such cases, we will require all partners to comply with this Privacy Policy. Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of the Site by any person using your password. Please advise us immediately if you believe your password has been misused.

There are also some situations where the Legal Playground may be required by law to provide information about users. Such situations include, but are not limited to, court orders, subpoenas, warrants, and efforts to respond to legal claims. We may also disclose information in circumstances where it is necessary to enforce our terms and conditions, policies and agreements; to initiate, render, bill, and collect for amounts owed to us; to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; and to protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of any person. In addition, information about our members, including personal information, may be disclosed as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which personally identifiable information could be transferred to third parties as one of the business assets of the Legal Playground. We may also disclose and use personally identifiable and other information when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.

From time to time, we may use personal information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our Privacy Policy notice. In such event, we will post the policy changes to our Site to notify you of these changes. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Site periodically.

Internal Communication

The Legal Playground has created an internal messaging system and discussion forums for the purposes of facilitating communication. The content of the messages and the recipients designated are entirely up to the user. We ask that you take care when deciding what to include in the text of your message and to whom it should be sent. Once messages are sent, we cannot reverse this action.

The Legal Playground is not responsible for the content of messages, for advice given or received, or for any loss of privacy that may occur because of information that is sent through our internal communication tools. Messages and posts also do not reflect the opinions or beliefs of the Legal Playground. We strongly encourage the use of internal communication tools in a manner consistent with our goal of creating a cooperative, enriching, and positive environment. While we respect the privacy of all communication, we ask that you notify us if you become aware of communications that are inappropriate (profanity, threats, harassment, etc.). We are committed to creating a safe and trusting environment in which our members can interact and share.

Conclusion

The Legal Playground reserves the right to revise or update this policy at any time, and if we do so, we will post a new Privacy Policy on the Site. Please visit this page periodically. Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments at:
